Mar -Capturing the Ordinary- Laura in charge
Ordinary and mundane objects and activities have been the subject matter of paintings dating back to the beginning of civilization. A flower, a piece of fruit or an eating utensil can become a spectacular work of art when treated with curiosity and close attention to detail. Any common item can become a masterpiece when viewed close up and turned into an artistic composition.
What do you see that is both ordinary and spectacular? Art in any medium is welcome.
Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $10 fee for each entry (limit of 3), with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. June- PRIDE- Laura in charge
During PRIDE month we would like to take a look at the opposite, yet related issues of diversity and unity. Each human being is an individual, unlike anyone else on the planet, yet none of us can thrive without a strong sense of acceptance, community and unity. Can we, as artists, tell our own stories through our art, and/or support our LBGTQ friends and neighbors to help erase prejudice?
How do you visualize the intersection of diversity and unity in your chosen medium? What images represent one or the other… or both.. in your mind?
