Members of the Corner Gallery were caught short when it suddenly became evident that there wasn't an artist scheduled to show their work in the front windows for the month of March. That was a huge problem, since those windows are the face the gallery presents to the public, and with just two weeks to go before First Friday, something had to be done.

Practical, impractical and downright impossible ideas ricocheted around the table at the general meeting, until one of the gallery members suggested, "Why not just feature ourselves?" The idea immediately resonated with the membership, and at least half a dozen artists stepped up to commit work for the show. The theme and title were equally easy to nail down... the first suggestion made was "March Madness," and it stuck.

March is a perfect month for the Corner Gallery to feature its own artists because it's the gallery's birthday month. Founding member and Treasurer Katie Gibbs points out, "We opened our doors on March 28, 2008. So this year we are having our 17th birthday! We've survived economic fluctuations, horrible fires in the area and more than a year of being shut down on account of COVID... and we're still here!"
